CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to staff and pupils in all our schools who will be celebrating A level success today.  Whatever the great debate about A levels, we all know that pupils and staff work incredibly hard to achieve the best possible results.

The BSA has no statistics about boarders and their specific success, but we believe that many youngsters enjoy examination success of which they had not dreamed because of the support and structure of a boarding community.

Today's Times carries the moving story of a young woman who was stolen from her mother's side as a baby and found three weeks later.  The money her mother received for her story at the time was invested and used to send the child to a boarding school.  The young lady reports, 'The school has been excellent.  The teachers have worked really hard and given me lots of extra lessons and helped me with my revision.  If I had gone to a normal mainstream school, I probably would have done alright, but I wouldn't have got such good results.'

Few boarders will have stories with such dramatic opening chapters, but there will be thousands who could report what a positive impact being a boarder has had upon their lives, both in and out of the classroom.

Once again, well done on the culmination of two years' very hard work all round.
