Counselling for non-counsellors
Date: October 12, 2017
Why you should attend? The Good Childhood Report published in September 2016 highlighted the increase in emotional and mental health issues experienced by young people. As a member of a schools’ pastoral team, it is important that all staff can empathise and support individual students when they need additional help. This workshop will identify how staff can help the young people in their care. It will not make delegates a qualified counsellor, but it will provide strategies such as how to listen effectively and how to help young people choose better options in their lives.
- The issues young people commonly face
- Effective listening
- The use of questions and when to use them
- How to help the distressed/ angry child.
