BSA virtual day seminar

Title: Leading a Nursing Team

Date: November 11, 2020
Time: 10:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 15:30
Speaker: Jane Graham, BSA Nurse Advisor and Lead Nurse, St Teresa's Effingham
Audience: Medical staff, Lead Nurses, Medical Centre Managers

Nurses should be approachable and knowledgeable. Their support is often sought when a child or staff member is unwell. Creating a medical team that works well together will lead to a happier, more approachable Medical Centre that is an advocate for the wider school community.

This seminar will consolidate and develop leadership skills in Nurses who are in charge of a small or large team working within a school environment. The day will present skills that could improve the cohesion and working styles of the medical team, and between the medical team and the wider school community. Delegates will be encouraged to share their ideas and experiences to look at improving performance and job satisfaction.

Training day breakdown:

  • Effective teams - what is a team, and what makes one effective?
  • Raising the profile of the Medical Centre - this session will cover ideas to raise the profile of the Medical Centre and continue meeting the needs of the school
  • Appraisals and inductions - an in-depth view of support available to staff members
  • Supervision - how and why supervision is important in the school setting
