Pupils at Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory School have been showing parents and grandparents that Maths can be fun.
Throughout the academic year, the youngsters in Year 1 have mastered problem solving, measuring, number bonds, 2D shapes, Estimating, Counting in French and in Thai, Fractions and some Maths jokes to boot!
Teaching Maths at a young age develops intellectual skills in problem solving, deductive and inductive reasoning, creative thinking and communication. Research has suggested that early Maths skills are a better predictor of academic success than early reading skills.
The mathematical showcase included demonstrations of the innovative ways in which Maths is taught at the Pre-Prep. Mrs Cattell, Head of Year 1 said “we are very proud of the children’s achievements and the parents thoroughly enjoyed the performance”.
