Lower IVth pupils from Bromsgrove School recently pushed themselves out of their comfort zones by taking part in a number of different ‘Life Skill’ activities. From food safety and smoothie making with their award winning Chef Chris Micklewright, to personal defence lessons from Streetwise and using boxing to combat stress with StressBox, the students have impressed with their energy and engagement. There were also workshops from Diversity Trust on LGBTQ awareness and Loudmouth Educational Theatre Company considered the effects of drugs and alcohol. Staff and organisations involved commented on their engagement, maturity and openness to learn.
Mrs Zia Leech, Senior Mistress (Pastoral) said “Life skills are an important part of the education of our young people in preparing them for life beyond school. So many aspects of their day include activities which they do without realising how they are growing and developing in part of such a diverse community. With a thriving boarding community, sharing a campus with peers with different cultures, languages and religions is a fantastic opportunity to share experiences and grow”.
