A COLWYN Bay has officially opened its new state-of-the-art residential study centre.
Rydal Penrhos School has invested heavily in the building, and is now officially taking reservations for any groups that wish to use the facility.
The building will initially take bookings from school groups as a field study centre suitable for biology and geography residential trips, as well as an English language centre for visiting international school groups.
More than £40,000 has been spent to transform the building, and the move is expected to create three jobs initially.
A Rydal Penrhos spokesman, said: “This is a fantastic facility and one that we hope with be a huge asset to both the school and to others both locally and internationally.
“This is something that the school has been planning for some time and we are delighted that it is now finally open, and it will provide pupils using it with everything they need to get the most out of their residential learning experience.”
The centre has its own sleeping accommodation for groups and accompanying members of staff as well as social and recreational areas including common rooms with pool table, TVs and areas for preparation of hot drinks and snacks.
Those using the centre will also benefit from digitally enhanced classrooms, which include WiFi and electronic whiteboards.
Rydal Penrhos has made a number of significant additions to the school in recent years, which have helped contribute to an historic set of GCSE and A-level results last summer.
