St Mary’s School, Cambridge students and staff don fancy dress for annual Fun Run
26th October 2015

The students and staff at St Mary’s School, Cambridge joined together on Thursday 22 October to participate in the school’s annual Fun Run – the school’s main charity fundraising event for 2015/2016. Wearing fancy dress costumes inspired by this year’s ‘My Favourite Bedtime Story’ theme, the students ran 5km (or 1km for Junior School pupils) across Coe Fen. Costumes included Batman, the Hungry Caterpillar, Dr Seuss, Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland.

The school encourages a ‘20 campaign’, promoting the idea that each student should aim to gain sponsorship of £20, whether by one generous sponsor donating £20, or 20 sponsors happy to donate just £1. The thinking behind this is that by each student’s commitment to raising just £20, the school can raise an impressive sum for charity.

The charities that will be supported by this year’s funds are: The work of Sister Christopher and the CJ Community in Zimbabwe; Arthur Rank Hospice; Walking with the Wounded; Mercury Phoenix Trust; Mercy Ships and Educaid (Sierra Leone).
