Rydal Penrhos sailors bring curtain down on successful season
5th November 2015

A group of sailors from Rydal Penrhos performed well as the curtain came down on the 2015 season.

In what has been another extremely successful year for the school on the water, the CYRC at Shotwick held on Saturday, October 17 signalled the end of the campaign for pupils.

The regatta saw a number of Rydal Penrhos sailors taking to the water for the first time competitively and all produced eye-catching performances that will boost their confidence ahead of next season.

One of the biggest success stories came from the team of Felix Corson and Jasper Richardson, who emerged victorious in the Feva General Handicap Gold Fleet.

There was further triumph for Rydal Penrhos in the General Handicap Fleet, with the school claiming the top four places.

Eleven year-old Bella Rutherford was first after a strong showing, with Preparatory School pupil Zac Roberts, Aidan Skinner and Isobel Bateson rounding off the top four.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “It was the first regatta for many of our sailors on the day and they produced a great set of results.

“Some of the sailors were very nervous as it was their first ever event but they all rose to the challenge.

“To fill the top four spots in a competitive General Handicap Fleet was outstanding and all competitors are to be congratulated for their efforts.”

This is the latest in a long line of sailing success at the school, who had five pupils called up to Welsh Squads last month.
