A Rydal Penrhos pupil has been selected for the Eryri U16 netball squad.
Becky Lawton, aged 15, was chosen for the squad after impressing for Conwy County U16s in their clash against Gwynedd and Ynys Mon on Thursday, November 12, which was held at Canolfan Braislford in Bangor University.
The Goal Attack will now move on to the Eryri squad, who will compete at the Welsh netball inter-counties tournament in March.
This feat was made even greater by the fact that the squad now selects from across North West Wales, a move that has made getting into the squad more difficult as they select from a wider group of players.
Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head, said: “It’s fantastic to see Becky playing at a higher level, it is a brilliant opportunity for her to grow.
“Since joining Rydal Penrhos Senior School in Year 7 Becky has demonstrated a natural shooting ability.
“This is the second time Becky has had the honour of representing Eryri, this first time was as an U14. We are all very proud of her achievement.”
This latest selection continues Becky’s success, with the netball star already having been selected to the Eryri U14 squad in previous years.
Becky said: “It was a nerve-wracking experience but the main thing was to get into the squad, something which I managed to do.
“I am looking forward to going to Cardiff for the Welsh inter-counties tournament, and hope I can help the team do well.”
