Young cricketers from across the region have been praised by former professional Will Owen as the Rydal Penrhos High Performance Centre came to a close.
The ex-Glamorgan star has been running the sessions for the last 13 weeks with aspiring cricketers from the region, and the 27 year-old was full of praise for the group after the final session concluded on Sunday, April 10.
He said: “It has been a pleasure to spend time with a group of players and to see them progress both technically and tactically.
“We have worked with 14 players from across North Wales with some players travelling over an hour to make each session, which was fantastic commitment.”
Prestatyn resident Owen enlisted the help of former county teammates David Lloyd, Dewi Jones and Paul Horton during the sessions.
In addition to the Rydal Penrhos High Performance Centre, Owen also ran a series of Easter Coaching Camps over the holidays at the school.
“Thank you to my good friends and current professional cricketers David, Dewi and Paul Horton who took time out of their preseason preparations to come and support the High Performance Centre,” added Owen.
“As I well know spare time is of a premium as a professional sports man and for them to travel to Colwyn Bay to help me in the next stage of my career means a great deal to me.
“I am loving coaching and things are really busy at the moment which I hope will carry on. It is a really rewarding job to see players improve and develop themselves over a period of time.”
