Prep School tennis star gets county call-up after first tournament win
20th April 2016

A young tennis star at Rydal Penrhos has been rewarded for her first tournament win with a county squad call-up.

Prep School pupil Georgia Brown, will join up with North Wales squad having only been playing the sport for a year, and recently won her first mini tournament, only the second she has played, at Rocks Lane Tennis Centre in Barnes, London during the Easter Holidays.

The Year 3 pupil beat all other tournament players twice to achieve the crown in convincing fashion, which was a fine achievement considering some players were ranked considerably higher than the seven year-old.

Georgia has now moved up the LTA rankings in the mini red age group ahead of her next tournament date in Wrexham this weekend.

Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Congratulations to Georgia for her regional squad call-up, which is made even more impressive given she has only been playing tennis for a short period of time.

“Her rapid rise up the ranking is testament to her natural talent for the sport, in addition to all the hard work she is putting in to better her game.

“We wish her well in her efforts with the county side and look forward to hearing about even more success in the future.”
