Recent Visit of Drama Consultant Phil Cleaves

Drama pupils at a Colwyn Bay school got the chance to learn from a field specialist at a special workshop.

Phil Cleaves visited Rydal Penrhos on Monday, May 9, where he conducted a four-hour    devising workshop with Year 10 GCSE and Year 12 A-level pupils.

Mr Cleaves was invited to the school by Head of Drama and English Leah Crimes, as the  pair are good friends after studying together at the University of Cambridge.

He also went on the gain distinction in his  Masters degree at both RADA and Birkbeck.

The Drama and Theatre consultant, workshop  leader and author has written the brand new  GCSE and A-level Drama textbooks for the  new courses.

Mrs Crimes, said: “It all went really well and the pupils really did get a lot out of it.

“We were fortunate to have Phil here to lend his expertise, and it was good for the group to have some insight on the new course literature too.

“On behalf of the pupils I would like to thank him for visiting us and we hope to see him again soon.”
