Wales captain Will Sissons wins Cricket World Performance of the Week
13th July 2016

Rydal Penrhos cricket star Will Sissons has received his prize for jointly winning Cricket World performance of the week recently.

The talented Wales international had a superb week with both bat and ball, amassing over 200 runs against Marylebone Cricket Club and King’s School Chester in what were two fabulous efforts at the crease.

In addition the all-rounder also took 5-17 in their 54-run triumph over King’s.

After a public vote, the 15 year-old was given the award along with two others due to the amount of votes received for each one, and he was presented with a certificate and a signed picture of former England bowler Matthew Hoggard on Friday, July 8.

It has been another memorable summer for Will, who narrowly missed out on a place at the prestigious Bunbury Festival after being named first reserve for the South and West squad.

He also continues to be a significant part of the Wales set-up, as well as being part of the Glamorgan Cricket Academy.

Head of Cricket Mike Leach, said: “This award was richly deserved and his exceptional performance was further proof of just what talent Will has.

“Despite his young age he has demonstrated a remarkable maturity, and the sky is the limit in terms of how he can improve in the future.”
