A group of talented sailors at Rydal Penrhos performed well at a prestigious festival recently.

No fewer than six pupils achieved medals at the On Board Festival Regatta, which was held in Bala from Saturday, September 3 to Sunday 4.

In the main fleet Feva Class, north Wales squad member Felix Corson continued his fine form with a second placed finish, while there was a notable one-two in the Pico Boys’ Class with Aidan Skinner and Dylan Craddock finishing first and second respectively.

Zac Roberts finished fourth in the same class to round off a strong showing.

There were further triumphs for Rydal Penrhos in the Girls’ Pico Class, with Year 8 pupil Bella Rutherford producing a stunning effort to finish first overall.

She was closely followed home by fellow pupils Emily Madden and Hannah Gasem, who crossed the line in second and third place to give the school one gold, three silvers and a bronze from the festival.

In addition to this success, prep school pair Liam Farrell and Fleur Pierce also emerged victorious from their respective events, with silver medals for Freddie McLaverty and Kiera Luke.

Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said:

“It was a memorable weekend of sailing for our pupils, who added to their fine recent success and they can be very proud of their efforts.”
