Welsh netball captain Suzy Drane has praised Rydal Penrhos pupils for their efforts on a recent tour of Greece.
The senior squad descended on south-eastern Europe for the five-day tour on Wednesday, October 19, with Celtic Dragons star Drane – a former pupil at the school – part of the coaching staff during the trip.
The lecturer and first team coach at Cardiff Metroplitain University, said: “I'm extremely thankful to have had the opportunity to be part of such a successful tour.
“Everyone was extremely welcoming and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team for five days.
“The pupils were very receptive throughout and improved as a team over the course of the tour.
“They demonstrated this during the organised fixtures where both teams’ performances improved substantially.
“I look forward to hearing that they have taken what they have learnt in training back to school for their upcoming games.
During their trip the team stayed at the Loutraki Sportcamp near Athens, where they trained, received analysis of their performances and played in a number of competitive matches against teams from the region.
The gifted young netballers’ also got to take in sights around the ancient city of Athens and Acroplois, in addition to visiting the Olympic arenas from the 2004 games and learn more about the legacy programmes around the country.
