Gifted Sailors at Rydal Penrhos
9th November 2016

A pair of gifted sailors at Rydal Penrhos have earned a national squad call-up after a fantastic season.

Ewan Luke and Zac Blomeley, both Year 11 pupils at the school, have been selected for the Welsh National Youth 29er Squad after what has been a memorable season on the water for the pair.

The duo, who recently moved to the 29er boat after a series of RS Feva success, will now enter the squad’s winter training programme as they prepare for next term.

Their most recent triumph came at an event held at Ovington Islands in Grafham, where they finished first in the Junior section and are now ranked number one in the UK in this class.

This is the latest in a host of sailing success for Rydal Penrhos’ sailing programme, which has produced a plethora of internationals under the stewardship of Max Todd.

Deputy head Tim Cashell, said: “Congratulations go to Ewan and Zac on their continued success with another national squad call-up.

“We have reached the end of a very successful season and I would like to put on record my thanks, once again, to Max, Andy, Dan, Olivia, Anna and Leah who have variously been responsible for the delivery of an excellent programme of sailing tuition as well as allowing so many of our pupils the opportunity to represent the school competitively.”
