A Giggleswick School teacher has launched a series of free hockey coaching clinics, open to all boys and girls in the area aged 8 to 16. Hannah Wright, who is Head of PE and Hockey at the school is driving the initiative in a bid to get more local young people into hockey in 2017.
There are two different sessions for two different age groups, with an earlier group for 8 to 12 year olds and later group for 13 to 16 year olds. Both are tailored for all abilities, from total beginners to those wanting to hone their individual or team playing skills.
Three sessions have been organised so far, taking place at Giggleswick School’s Eshtons Astro-turf on Raines Road. These will be held on Sunday 15th January, Sunday 12th February and Sunday 12th March, with ages 8 to 13 starting at 12:30 until 2:00pm and ages 13 to 16 taking place from 2:00pm to 3.30pm. Those who attend are asked to bring shin pads and a mouth guard, but everything else will be provided including hockey sticks.

Whether you’re the next Sam Quek or you’ve never tried Hockey before, our experienced sports coaches will be able to help! Hockey is a fun game where you get to meet new people, get fit and enjoy a bit of competition! You can come to all three sessions or pick and choose when it suits you but it would be great to see lots of people there to make the sessions really worthwhile.
Anyone wishing to attend should contact Hannah Wright on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01729 893022 or simply turn up to Eshtons Astro-turf on Raines Road at Giggleswick School.
