Year 2 pupils learn more about materials on Techniquest Wrexham visit
24th January 2017

Preparatory School pupils visited a prominent North Wales university as part of their termly topic on materials.

The Year 2 class at Rydal Penrhos took a trip to Techniquest Glyndwr in Wrexham, which is located on the grounds of the town’s university, on Tuesday January 17.

Pupils took part in a host of activities during the visit, including the opportunity to sample different games, each with their own tasks.

Gaynor Davies, Head of Pre-Prep at Rydal Penrhos, said: “From spinning plastic balls using centrifugal force to negotiating through a corridor of mirrors, to using pulleys to load a cargo ship to creating a cushioned landing for a raw egg, Year 2 were very busy learning the many uses of an eclectic array of materials.

“A thoroughly enjoyable and informative day was had by all.”

Led by their Techniquest tutor, the pupils took part in a wide range of activities throughout the day, which were designed to enhance the group’s knowledge of materials which they then took back to the classroom.

This is one of many educational visits taken by the prep school throughout the academic year, which sees them embark on learning outside of a normal environment as venues such as the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Piggery Pottery and Bodelwyddan Castle.
