A Rydal Penrhos staff member has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Dean Jones, who works as a Communications Assistant at the school, is one of the finalists in the School Communication Award category at the Daily Post Schools Awards in association with Excell Supply.
The 35-year-old was nominated for the honour by Director of Communications Susan Hogan after transforming the school’s media coverage, social media avenues and parent links since he took up the role 21 months ago.
During his time at Rydal Penrhos the former journalist has increased the school’s media presence both regionally and nationally, in addition to being at the forefront of social media activity on the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Rydal Penrhos was recently named the best marketed school on Twitter in Wales by global marketing and communications company Interactive Schools.
Mr Jones has also been a key contributor in creating the school’s new-look website and mobile app which were launched earlier this year, in addition to creating a Live Updates Blog for parents so that they are constantly informed of changes and developments in all areas of Rydal Penrhos life.
The staff member will now attend a glitzy awards dinner on Thursday, June 29 at Coleg Cambria alongside four other representatives from the school.
Mrs Hogan, said: “We are delighted that Dean Jones on behalf of Rydal Penrhos’ marketing team has been shortlisted for the School Communication Award.
“The nomination is a reflection of the exciting engagement of Rydal Penrhos with digital media and is testament to the emphasis that the school has placed in promoting a positive and supportive social media community for pupils, staff and parents.”
