A budding thespian from Felsted has been chosen to join the prestigious National Youth Theatre in London. Lydia Carrington, age 17 from High Easter, attended the auditions for 14 to 21 year olds in London, alongside 4,200 other hopefuls, for a coveted place in the company.
Having been awarded the position, Lydia will now train with the National Youth Theatre in London for two weeks over the summer, opening up opportunities to participate in their world touring productions.

With infamous alumni such as Dame Helen Mirren, Colin Firth and Daniel Day Lewis, Lydia has many exceptional role models to emulate. Lydia recently portrayed Norma Desmond in the World Premier School production of Sunset Boulevard, staged by Felsted. The production, deemed too difficult to be staged outside the West End, received rave reviews over its four night run and is considered “the best production at Felsted to date”.
Lydia, who was awarded 10 A*s at GCSE last summer, has also been offered membership to the Youth Music Theatre following her successful audition in January. She is an Academic and Drama Scholar at Felsted, and is studying Religious Studies, History, English Literature and Drama and Theatre Studies at A Level.
Lydia comments; “I am so thrilled to now be a member of the National Youth Theatre. I am unbelievably excited to begin working with so many talented people and really look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
Felsted is a leading independent, co-educational, boarding and day school for pupils aged 4-18, based in East Anglia.
