Felsted Cricketers Crowned Champions for a Second Season
17th September 2013

A successful cricket season was topped off by the Felsted U15 boys’ cricket team this week, as they were crowned Essex Champions for the second year running. The team took on local rivals, King Edward’s Grammar School, on Tuesday 10th September in the T20 Essex Final, despite the inclement weather.

Felsted scored a highly respectable and very defendable 109-6, batting first in difficult conditions. The innings was propped up by a commendable 52 not out off just 31 balls by Alex Jackson, age 15, from Colchester.

KEGS were restricted by some very tight bowling and regular wickets, in particular the four taken by George Hitchcock, age 15 from Felsted, to 99-9. The team, which included three county players and captained by Kent’s Ashleigh Cox, age 15 from Sandwich, were jubilant at the end of a very tight game.

Felsted’s Cricket professional and coach Nick Lockhart commented; “This is a fantastic way to round off what has been a successful and enjoyable domestic season. The boys deserve all the credit.”
