Great Ballard School and Puddle Ducks Hampshire and West Sussex have teamed up to offer children aged 4-10 free swimming lessons on Saturday 26th May.

Great Ballard School and Puddle Ducks Hampshire and West Sussex have teamed up to offer children aged 4-10 free swimming lessons on Saturday 26th May.

As part of the STA’s (Swimming Teacher’s Association) Learn to Swim Week (21-27 May 2018), the free swimming lessons will give children the chance to learn to swim in an all-weather swimming pool located in the beautiful garden of the independent prep school in Eartham, near Chichester.

STA organises the annual water safety campaign with the aim to encourage people to learn to swim, but also, to do so safely. This is particularly important at this time of year, as children are tempted to go near or in water.

Children will also have the opportunity to chat to Puddle Ducks expert teachers, who have undergone extensive teacher training, about water safety while enjoying a snack and a drink provided by Great Ballard School.

Puddle Ducks owner, Alison Merrett, said: “This May we will be participating in the STA’s Learn to Swim week, which has been combined with our termly pyjama week, to highlight the importance of learning to swim as a vital safety skill.

“Last year, the STA found over 25% of parents, and 1 in 3 children (aged 0-16 years) could not swim. We hope these free sessions will encourage children of all ages and abilities to get in the pool and open the door to a wealth of water skills.”
