The pupils visited the palace where they were greeted by the Sheikh, Cabinet Minister and Minister of State for Tolerance and spent the evening discussing his life at Millfield Prep over lunch.
On their 7-day tour, the boys got to train at The Sevens Stadium, in which the next game will be played by the England rugby team. They also visited the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, played matches against The British School Al Khubairat, had fun at the Wild Wadi Water Park and got to experience the desert safari sand dunes in Abu Dhabi.
Millfield Prep pupil, William Thomas from Street says, “We had the best week in Dubai. The team got to train at the most incredible stadiums as well as dine in a real palace. We even got to go to a water park and spent the last day on safari in the desert. I want to go back again.”
Rugby tour leader and teacher, Jonathan Ford, says, “The rugby tour was a fantastic experience for all of the boys. Not only did they get to train in world-renowned stadiums against new opposition, they also had the chance to experience the culture of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For many, having dinner at the Palace will be a highlight to remember for the rest of their lives, and I hope the experience has inspired them to see that sport can open so many interesting doors for them in the future.”
