As part of our new series of one-day conferences, the BSA is hosting our first Empowering and preparing young people conference. This unique conference, aimed at boarding staff and those who work in boarding education, will give attendees the tools they need to make sure that the pupils in their care have the groundwork they need for positive mental and physical health.
Andrew Lewin, BSA Director of Training and International, said that “the importance of mental health and mental wellbeing cannot be underestimated – students cannot perform well at school or socially if they do not have the tactics they need to maintain their own health.”
“This conference will give attendees the ability empower their pupils to take control of their own health and wellbeing. With seminars on mental health, domestic violence, and training on drug and alcohol usage in teenagers, for one-day, educators will go away with practical advice and a deeper understanding of these issues.”
Fiona Spargo-Mabbs, of The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, who is speaking at the conference says that the conference gives delegates "time aside to explore fresh approaches to equipping the students in your care with the skills, knowledge and resilience they need to navigate safely the many challenges they face - all that lies at the heart of our best hopes for their futures."
