Students at The Duke of York’s Royal Military School, near Dover, are celebrating success at GCSE with some 70% graded 9-5, a strong pass, and a quarter of results at grades 9-7.
Initial indications demonstrate students have made incredible progress as Dukies, along with improved attainment. 11 of our students have been awarded highly competitive academic scholarships into our Sixth Form and 4 students have received Sports Scholarships; with two of our Sports Scholars joining our DOYRMS Trailfinders Academy rugby performance pathway.
Achieving a raft of grades 8 and 9, Dukie individual successes include: Dara Boyejo, Sarah Ogunnusi, Joanna Bowtell, Will Kempton, Marissa Poku, Lia Gurung, Przemyslaw Zukowski and Alina Tamang.
Principal Alex Foreman said: “As a top performing non-selective school, most of our GCSE students will be staying on for Sixth Form where we provide university-style accommodation and facilities. While academic achievement is at the forefront, our full boarding environment allows Dukies to immerse themselves wholeheartedly in a breadth of activities beyond the classroom, developing strong character and diverse life skills. In unison with our comprehensive curriculum offering, students’ attainment across the age group has continued to increase, resulting in a breadth of Scholarships being offered: with 11 Academic Scholars, 4 Sports Scholars and a Music Scholar joining our ranks at Sixth Form in September. I look forward to welcoming a record number of students to our Sixth Form and could not be prouder of our Year 11s; in the face adversity, they have risen to the occasion, embodying our core values in all that they do.”
