Heathfield School in Ascot – rated ‘Excellent’ across all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate – is commending its GCSE students and staff for the high level of dedication and determination exhibited over the past two years. Their hard work resulted in huge success across a broad range of subjects, with 40% of all grades awarded at 9 and 8, and over 60% of grades at 9-7.
100% of students studying Chemistry, Physics and Biology as separate sciences attained grades 9-7 (A*/A equivalent). Heathfield students have also continued to shine in creative subjects, with 9-8 grades awarded to 85% of students studying Art and 100% of students in Music.
Stand out performances include those from Theodora, who secured 9s and 8s in all 11 of her GCSEs. Theodora, like others, also immersed herself in the school’s diverse co-curricular programme to enjoy personal triumphs as the lead role in this year’s school production, and first class performances in the school’s orchestra and choir.
Rosaleen and Sonya – who between them secured 20 grades at 9/8 – like Theodora, also continued to pursue their musical passions and sport.
On average, students scored over 1.5 grades higher in every subject that they studied when compared to their nationally standardised predicted Value Added Scores1.
From Art to French and Classical Greek to Chinese, this year’s GCSE cohort at Heathfield have had the opportunity to choose from 15 optional subjects in addition to core GCSEs such as Maths, English and Science, reflecting the school’s dedication to providing a personalised education that allows students to pursue their individual interests, whilst benefitting greatly from small class sizes.
Commenting on this year’s achievements, Heathfield’s Headmistress, Sarah Wilson, said: “I am so very proud of this year group. Despite the challenges of the past two years, their results evidence their assiduity during this difficult period. These young women have succeeded in both their studies and in their individual development, thanks to their high level of dedication and determination.”
