St George’s School Partners with Digital Wellbeing Education Platform

Posted: 19th June 2024

St George’s School in Edinburgh has partnered with Tooled Up Education, a holistic wellbeing resource, to provide their school community with digital support on parenting, education, and family life. As the first school in Scotland to work with Tooled Up Education, St George’s aims to ensure their families have access to the resources they need to thrive.

The school recognises that good mental health and wellbeing helps children develop, attend school, engage in learning, and fulfil their potential and that this is best achieved by working together with their families. By providing a ‘Digital Wellbeing Resource’ for its parents, the school can promote healthy technology use and support families at home. This initiative aligns with St George’s commitment to community outreach and forming strong partnerships to boost opportunities for young girls in Edinburgh.

Tooled Up Education is an extensive online library that offers evidence-based tips, activities, educational webinars, and podcasts that cover all aspects of daily life. The platform is presented by Dr Kathy Weston and a team of experienced specialists. Dr Weston is one of the UK’s leading experts on parenting and learning, and with years of experience in this area, the team is dedicated to providing families with accurate, research-based information and practical strategies for negotiating the difficulties of modern parenting. Dr Kathy Weston, Tooled Up Education Commenting on why St George’s made the decision to get involved with Tooled up, Carol Chandler-Thompson, Head at St George’s, said:

“Supporting our students’ growth and development extends beyond the classroom. By partnering
with Tooled Up Education, we aim to provide our families and staff with privileged access to a wealth of resources that can help them navigate the challenges that come with parenting and foster a supportive, informed community.

In today’s ever-changing world, it is so important that our students are equipped with the skills and resilience needed to navigate education and the future. By providing families with access to the platform, we want to empower parents and caregivers to support their children’s development”. Commenting on their partnership with St George’s a representative from Tooled up, said: “Tooled Up was selected as a finalist in the BETT AWARDS 2024 for our innovative work, and is now established in five countries around the world. We are delighted to work with St George’s School to share the positive impact the resources can have on a young person’s life. The positive interactions from our community is the driving force behind Tooled Up, and staying true to our values and mission to have impact through bringing research to real life”.

By addressing these key areas, Tooled Up Education aims to help students and families develop a holistic approach to personal growth and parenting.
