Four National Champion titles for Leweston riders

13 Leweston students attended the NSEA National Championships Eventers Challenge, and National Inter-County SJ and Dressage Championships, at The All England Jumping Course in Hickstead. The riders achieved fantastic results.

This year’s results were the most impressive the school has seen in recent years, including 4 National Champion Titles and 16 qualified Individuals!

Championship Saturday

It was a busy and hot day for Leweston’s riders, filled with brilliance and excitement. Many congratulations to the 70-75cm Eventers Challenge team for securing 3rd place with four flawless rounds. Year 5 pupil, Tilly W, competed as an individual completing in 13th Place.

Additionally, Leweston’s Open Dressage team achieved 8th place, with Madeline RS shining as an Individual 6th place in the Open Prelim Dressage. Madeline then showcased her talent by joining Isabel W (Taffy), Jessica W (Tiger), Hen J (Fella) in the senior team culminating in a remarkable 2nd place finish in the 1m -1.05m Eventers Challenge.

Championship Sunday

Jumping at 07.30, an early rise was rewarded as the school’s fantastic quartet of riders conquered the challenging 80-85cm Eventers Challenge (arena eventing) with four super clear rounds. With 55 teams taking part in this class, it was not until 18.30 that the team learnt they had podium placed in 3rd.

Huge congratulations to Sixth Former, Molly C, and her horse, Herbie, who fearlessly took on the challenging 1m-1.05m National County SJ Championships and emerged victorious with a flawless and speedy clear round! Not stopping there, she also clinched the next class and the 1.10m title, making her a double champion in a truly remarkable display of skill and determination!

An exciting team win was achieved in the additional SJ qualifying classes qualifiers for Addington.

Championship Monday

Monday saw an outstanding team victory in the 80-85cm County Show Jumping, proudly reclaiming the National Championship title for Dorset!

After securing 5th place in the competitive 90-95cm class, Leweston’s riders eagerly made their way to the Eventers Challenge course as the final team out of 36 to tackle the iconic arena. With numerous teams already boasting flawless rounds, they knew they had to deliver clear, precise rides to clock in as close to the optimum time as possible. And deliver they did, navigating through fabulous Cross Country rounds that ultimately landed the team in a well-deserved 3rd place. The excitement peaked when Henrietta J, the penultimate rider out of the 80 individuals, clinched the National Champion title! What a spectacular conclusion to an outstanding championship for Team Leweston!
