Students and staff at ACS International School Cobham gathered on Friday (24 May) to celebrate the achievements of departing Grade 12 (Year 13) students at the school’s annual formal graduation ceremony.
The event gave the school community the chance to bid farewell and reflect on the departing students’ time at the school, before they move on to their next stage in life.
ACS Cobham’s Head of School, Barnaby Sandow, said: “This wonderful ceremony really puts into perspective the level of dedication our students have channelled into their studies and other activities at ACS Cobham. Seeing how hard they’ve worked and the level of determination and self-belief they’ve demonstrated throughout their time here is really inspiring. We know it’s those aspects that will make them stand out in whatever they choose to do in the future.”
The ceremony included performances and keynote speeches, including Disney+ actor and former ACS student, Omar Biroud. Notable students were also presented with awards to commemorate their hard work. Timothee A was awarded the Valedictorian award, which is given to the student with the highest academic average, and Elizabeth P received the Founders’ Award for excellent academic achievement, involvement in extra-curricular activities and school leadership.
With students representing over 77 nationalities, half of this year’s ACS Cobham graduates will go on to study in the US and around the world. However, 50% of graduates will be staying in the UK and going to study at universities such as York, Manchester, Bath, Newcastle, London School of Economics, Edinburgh and Lancaster.
ACS Cobham offers a broad selection of globally-renowned curricula, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement (AP) and the US High School Diploma, which prepare students for the challenges of the future.
