Success for Girls’ Cricket at Fettes

Posted: 4th July 2024

The Finals Day for the Girls Under 18 Scottish Cup took place at Fettes College on Saturday 15th June. After a flash flood the previous day it was a remarkable effort from the Grounds Team that enabled these matches to be played  – and in perfect conditions. In the Semi-Final, Fettes faced Loretto and bowled extremely well to limit them to 27 all out with Lucy P, Izzi A, Charlotte M and Rosie S the wicket takers. Pippa K and Ava B took no time to knock off the required runs and to set up a final against the MES team.

In the final,  Fettes batted first and recovered from 12-2 to post a fantastic score of 144-4 with Rosie S and Izzy A having a century partnership at a crucial time. The bowling was superb and MES were bowled out for 50 with Chloe M, Charlotte M and Rosie S once again prominent.

We are absolutely delighted to retain the cup for a third consecutive year!

The Under 15 Girls Finals Day followed a week later with the girls winning their semi-final against George Watson’s College by 5 runs with Charlotte M and Izzy A contributing with the bat. The final against MES was a high-quality match and the girls defended their final total of 98 runs with a commanding bowling and fielding performance to secure the win. Captain Izzy A led the way with her batting and leadership of the team.
