Royal Hospital School Girls’ U15A Cricket Team Celebrates Historic Season

The Royal Hospital School (RHS), in Holbrook, Suffolk is celebrating an extraordinary season for its girls’ U15A cricket squad, marked by outstanding performances and historic achievements.

This season, the girls’ U15A team has demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, securing impressive victories against local rivals Ipswich School, St Joseph’s College, and Woodbridge School. Their hard work and dedication paid off, with many players earning call-ups to the RHS 1st and 2nd XI squads.

For the first time since the introduction of girls’ cricket at RHS, the team reached the final of the U15 County Cup Competition, making history and setting a new standard for future teams. The journey to the final was filled with thrilling moments and remarkable teamwork.

After Saint Felix forfeited the first round, the RHS girls faced Ipswich School in a gripping semi-final. A stellar 90-run partnership between Elise L and Bea N propelled the team to a total of 128-6 in 20 overs. Skye F delivered a sensational performance, taking 4-14, including a hattrick, and sharp fielding secured a nail-biting 6-run victory.

In the final, the RHS team showcased their bowling prowess, restricting St Joseph’s to 117-4. Skye F once again stood out with her exceptional bowling. Despite a fantastic batting effort by Connie G, the team narrowly missed the target, finishing as the proud runners-up.

Director of Sport at Royal Hospital School, Nick Platt, who coached the team, commented on the U15A team’s success saying: “This season has been incredible for our girls’ U15A cricket squad. Their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship have been exemplary, and we are immensely proud of their achievements. Playing such great cricket has seen them beat their local rivals and reach the County Cup final for the first time, which is testament to their hard work and determination. We look forward to seeing these talented players continue to excel in their cricketing careers.”
