BSA launches ‘Early Night-Night’ in recognition of Sleep Champion scheme success

Posted: 28th February 2025

The Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) is encouraging boarders far and wide to get an early night on Sunday March 16 to mark the one-year anniversary of popular Sleep Champion Scheme.

Whether a registered BSA Sleep Champion or not, schools can participate in the ‘BSA Early-Night Night’ on Sunday March 16 by encouraging a relaxing wind-down routine and an earlier bedtime for boarders. Schools can show their support for the initiative on social media using hashtags #BSAEarlyNightNight #BSASleepChampions.

Supported by Lindsay Browning, Founder of Trouble Sleeping, the Sleep Champions initiative has welcomed registrations from almost 50 boarding schools and counting. It promotes the benefits of good sleep in boarding environments and reinforces the critical role rest plays in young people’s wellbeing and academic success.

Director, BSA, David Walker said:
“I am delighted to see the BSA Sleep Champions Scheme grow in popularity since its launch in March 2024. The initiative has empowered boarding staff to prioritise sleep education within their houses and recognise the powerful benefits a consistent good night’s sleep can have on a boarder’s wellbeing and ability to thrive.”

BSA’s Early Night-Night aims to highlight the proven benefits of quality rest, including improved concentration, emotional resilience and overall health.
