Course outline

This training has been especially designed for BSA members as a follow up to CBT introduction: tools and strategies. Dr Jody Walshe will take delegates further into the study of CBT practices and how we can use these to support young people in establishing resilience, self-confidence and manage stress and negative feelings.

This one-day course is for delegates who have been using some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches in their work. This course will be an opportunity to develop and extend the skills of delegates who have started to apply some CBT tools in their work. The session will be bespoke and designed to build on the skills delegates are already using, and introduce new tools to utilise. Delegates will leave the session with new skills and tools to extend their work and skills when working with individuals, small groups and whole classes/houses. Delegates will also have the opportunity to raise specific areas where they would like to develop their skills which will be addressed e.g., wanting to use CBT tools with a wider range of young people, to address different needs e.g., exam anxiety, perfectionism, peer relationships, self-esteem, social media use.

Who is this course for?

  • Delegates who have previously attended: CBT introduction – tools and strategies
  • Delegates who are already using some aspects of CBT in their work. This could be using strategies including thoughts/feelings/behaviours, identifying unhelpful/negative thoughts, reshaping unhelpful/negative thoughts
  • If you are unsure whether this court might be for you then get in touch – the session will be bespoke for delegates so feel free to get in touch and discuss.
