Gordon’s School GCSE results

Posted: 25th August 2022

Gordon’s students have bucked the national trend, recording excellent results in both A Level and GCSE exams. Almost half of those taking their GCSEs this year were awarded the highest grades; more than three quarters recorded a ‘strong pass’ and the vast majority gained the historic ‘gold standard’ of five or more GCSE grades, including English Language and Maths.

Today’s GCSE results, which saw 96% of papers marked for Gordon’s students with a pass or better (Grades 9-4), far outstripped the national average of 73%.

The percentage of students achieving the highest grades (Grades 9-7) was 48% – well over 20 percentage points higher than the national average of 26%. Students taking BTEC courses also excelled with the average grade being a Merit.

Topping the results tables at Gordon’s was a delighted Isabelle Depoix, who achieved 10 Grade 9s and one Grade 8.

Stand out performances in their GCSEs were also recorded by Sam Moreau (9 Grade 9s and one Grade 8); Jack Brinkman (9 Grade 9s and one Grade 6); Zoe Legge (8 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s) and Alice Kermeen (8 Grade 9s, one Grade 8 and 1 Grade 7).

The average grade in BTECs was a Merit with Jacob Griffin achieving a Distinction * in BTEC Enterprise.

Headmaster Andrew Moss congratulated students on another set of well-deserved results and said: “An outstanding set of GCSE and BTEC grades, achieved through resilience, determination and hard work in what has been a difficult time for all our students. I am delighted that the efforts of both staff and students have been reflected in this year’s results.”

Last week A Level students at the co-ed day and boarding school learned that they had excelled with nearly 50% achieving A*-A.
