Jordan Cox was selected for England Cricket’s IT20 series against Australia and becomes the latest in a long line of former Felsted School pupils to make a name for themselves in international cricket.
Following in the footsteps of England Cricketers Derek Pringle, John Stephenson, Jonny Douglas and Nick Knight, who were also former Felsted pupils, Jordan credits the school’s Head of Cricket – the Australian-born former England batsman Jason Gallian – with developing his talent for the game.
‘Jason is my coach,’ Jordan told The Telegraph in a recent interview. ‘We still work together regularly and he knows my batting better than anyone else.’
Jordan is Felsted’s first International T20 cricketer and scored 17 runs in the first game of the series, which Australia won by 28 runs.
A finger injury sustained in last year’s the Hundred had kept Jordan out of England Cricket until now. In 2022 he was a member of the England squad for the T20 tour to Pakistan and he was on standby for this year’s World Cup. The 23-year-old plays county cricket for Essex, having moved from Kent this season, and helped the Oval Invincibles to reach the knockout rounds in this year’s the Hundred.

Cricket is an integral part of Felsted’s sports programme and boys and girls of all abilities have the chance to represent the school in fixtures against other local and regional schools. Every year a match is played against an MCC team on the school’s famous main pitch, ‘The Front’, and Felsted also competes in the national T20 competition. Additional training and coaching sessions are offered to keen and able Senior School players and the school is an official partner of Sunrisers Cricket, one of eight top teams in the women’s domestic game, and is an MCC performance hub for regional women’s cricket.
Selected by the world’s longest established cricket magazine, Felsted was named in The Cricketer’s Schools Guide 2024 as one of the country’s best schools for cricket within its list of the country’s top 100 state and independent schools for the sport. Felsted School also won Boarding School of the Year 2023 at the TES Schools Awards and in March 2024 was appointed by IB-Schools.com as ‘A Top 20 UK IB School for 2023’ for excellence in academic achievement. In 2024 Felsted was awarded a prestigious Eco-Schools’ Green Flag for their exceptional work in promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness, and most recently, Felsted was awarded the esteemed ‘Sleep Champion’ status by the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA).
