Course outline:
The number of children diagnosed with specific learning difficulties has increased over the last few years and is continuing to increase. These difficulties not only impact classroom learning but also everyday life such as organisation, executive functioning, self-esteem and relationships. This seminar will focus on practical strategies to support pupils and boarders who are dyslexic and whose working memory and processing are areas of concern. This session will be useful to both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Training topics will include:
- Specific learning difficulties
- The impact of dyslexia and difficulties with working memory and processing
- Practical strategies to support children in your care.
Learning outcomes:
- To gain an in-depth understanding of the areas impacted by dyslexia, working memory and processing difficulties
- To be better equipped to support children with these characteristics
- To be able to foster an inclusive culture in one’s setting/boarding house
