Course outline:
Risk assessment, safeguarding and compliance are essential components of running a school and taking care of children and young people. You know what these mean in your school setting and how to keep your staff and students safe. But what about when children are off-site on visits, residentials, co-curricular activities and sporting events? Have you considered that routine and regular events such as going out to eat or social activities on evenings and weekends are also trips – and could be considered as such by authorities?
Join us for a live webinar with Andy Smith, Outdoor Education Advise at EVOLVE Advice. Andy will outline the key requirements for boarding schools related to educational visits and co-curricular activities to help you understand your responsibilities for safety and compliance.
Andy will highlight the relevant guidance from DfE, HSE and National Guidance on educational visits produced by the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel (OEAP). He’ll explain what you need to consider when planning and managing educational visits, including your team competencies, risk assessment, policies and procedures, and will introduce the STAGED approach as a framework for your internal planning and approvals.
