Transfer students are those who move schools outside of standard intake points. This may happen mid-year for some, or coincide with the start of a new school year but remain out of sequence with the cohort they join. There are wide-ranging catalysts for moving schools at atypical times – distinct circumstances and individual factors often combine to create a unique set of transition needs for such students. This webinar explores how the school transition experience might differ for transfer students, how this may increase their vulnerability during transition, and ways in which available opportunities can be maximised to support student wellbeing and facilitate transition and inclusion

Kitty Jack-Thomas, Family Transition Coach, Pegasus Coaching.
Kitty supports families through transitions such as school moves, relocations and other significant life changes. With a MSc in Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing, she takes a Psychology-informed approach to her coaching practice and specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC) to empower young people and their parents/caregivers to anticipate challenges and harness the skills and mindset to thrive through change. Prior to moving into coaching, Kitty taught Geography at Dulwich College and Wellington College before relocating to Hong Kong and Japan. She has experience as a Head of Department, Tutor, and Assistant Boarding Houseparent. In response to the increasing demand for school counselling and other therapy services in the wake of big life changes, Kitty’s work focuses on building resilience to avert distress. Kitty is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), International Society of Coaching Psychology (ISCP) and the Association for Coaching (AC).
