Course outline

The aim of the session is to support delegates in understanding the current legal frameworks that apply to boarding schools and how this might be applied in practice.  The session will focus on unpacking the BSA’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Briefing Paper to support and assist schools to navigate an area of legal and practical complexity.

Training topics will include: 

  • Core legal framework and guidance
  • Cass interim report
  • Key issues including pastoral care and safeguarding
  • Single sex spaces
  • Sport

Learning outcomes:

  •  Greater understanding of relevant legislation and guidance
  • Building confidence in own practice
  • Be able to critically evaluate policies and arrangements in own setting
