Group Director of Safeguarding and Wellbeing
The Rugby School Group seeks to create diverse and inclusive communities, committed to using collaboration, curiosity and expertise to uncover the best in every student and member of staff. Equity and service are fundamental to our practice.
We are seeking a Group Director of Safeguarding & Wellbeing who has experience of implementing and delivering a safeguarding strategy across schools. With firsthand experience in schools and boarding, the person should share our ‘Whole Person, Whole Point’ ethos and will relish the opportunities and challenges of this new role and of working across Rugby School’s growing group.
The Director of Safeguarding & Wellbeing will offer substantial safeguarding experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, procedures and good practice regarding children’s pastoral welfare and wellbeing. They will be responsible for writing and delivering the safeguarding strategy across the Group. Working very closely with the Nominated Safeguarding Governor, they will also have a governance role ensuring that all Group schools are fully compliant and following best practice. Reporting directly to the Head Master of Rugby School they will support the DSLs in each of the Group schools and also be a Deputy DSL.
They will possess excellent relationship building skills, experience of leading and implementing change, and have the expertise to support and develop DSLs and pastoral staff across the Group. They will also be part of the Group’s executive leadership team, and will support the Group’s growth ambitions; senior leadership experience in a complex organisation is therefore preferred.
Rugby is renowned for its highly successful and innovative approach to education. As a coaching school we are looking for colleagues who are committed to a professional obligation to improve as professionals and who value personal growth.
The Rugby School Group is currently made up of two schools in Rugby and two international partner schools. This is expected to grow rapidly in the next 24 months. The role will therefore require travel in the UK and internationally. The nature of the Group’s schools and other operations means that some work will be required outside of normal work hours and outside of term time. Part time may be considered for the right candidate.
