Corydon Lowde, Headmaster of Box Hill School, has announced the school will be joining the list of distinguished schools whose full membership of HMC (Headmasters and Headmistresses Conference) is a kite mark of global quality.
There are fewer than 300 HMC schools out of some 2000 private schools in the UK. HMC’s independent schools are individual and distinctive, offering parents a rich variety of options when choosing the right education for their child. But, at the heart of every HMC school is a commitment to the benefits of a holistic educational experience: academic excellence coupled with a strong emphasis on pastoral care and exceptional co-curricular opportunities. Box Hill School’s offer of a holistic, relationship-driven education means an equal emphasis on all aspects of learning, including 10-15 hours of activities per week. These include all major sports, high ropes, stage make up, robotics, Podcast Club, and Mountain Biking.
As a boarding school, bringing together children from over 30 countries, Box Hill promotes a common understanding of global citizenship and our shared humanity. Inspectors noted that “Pupils are well-behaved and considerate towards one another. They have a highly developed sense of right and wrong and readily take responsibility for their own behaviour informed by the Round Square IDEALS”.
Headmaster Cory Lowde comments; “I am thrilled that the extraordinary work of the last several years have been recognised in this way. We do not stand still. We go from strength to strength and I look forward to what this opportunity means for all concerned”.
