British Council International School Award Success for Felsted

Posted: 3rd October 2022

Felsted School in Essex has been re-accredited with the British Council’s International School Award 2022-2025!

The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life work in today’s world.

Diane Guerrero (International Coordinator at Felsted School) and Fiona Hitchcock (International Coordinator, Felsted Prep) commented; “We are delighted to have been reaccredited with the award and look forward to celebrating and embracing Internationalism post Covid, with more travel opportunities available for pupils.”

This award is a testament to Felsted’s commitment to embedding a rich and creative range of international work, including:

  • An international ethos embedded throughout the school
  • A whole school approach to international work
  • Collaborative curriculum-based work with a number of partner schools
  • Year-round international activity
  • Involvement of the wider community

Felsted Prep School regularly takes part in e-twinning and projects with overseas schools, as well as International days/assemblies. All Senior pupils participate in a co-curricular programme built around the RoundSquare IDEALS, and every year they hold a whole school Model United Nations with local and Round Square Schools participating.

Scott McDonald, Chief Executive of the British Council, said: ‘The school has earned this prestigious award through its inspirational international work and links with schools abroad. This is especially commendable when schools have been deeply affected by the global pandemic. The desire to build on their international work shines through and it is with utmost pride that we celebrate their achievements’.
