Denstone College are thrilled to announce the completion of the major building and capital investment project in their junior department. The Prep at Denstone College, established on the main campus in September 2021, now has further specialist teaching and learning areas for all children to enjoy. In just four terms of existence, The Prep has expanded considerably and interest in education for 4-11 year olds at Denstone College has increased significantly.
At the forefront of this education are fantastic, dedicated teachers; human interactions and relationships of adults knowing and understanding children are what makes this a great school. However, it is important that children have a fantastic environment in which to grow and the new project has particularly allowed this to shine. A second floor on the building incorporating dedicated areas for creativity, exploration and scientific discovery has now been opened and met with understandable fervour from the young people.
Education is so much more than knowledge and this particular development has taken enquiry learning and run with it. Head, Lotte Tulloch, writes “if we can give our youngest children the very best start in their educational journey, our pupils will be best served. The development of ‘Phase 2’ has provided our young people with a space to learn outside of regular norms; they can ask questions, explore complex topics, learn to problem solve and to think beyond the obvious. We are most fortunate to have these facilities to help develop our young people to have the skills they need for the next phase of their education. Indeed, such specialist areas for children as young as four is transformational. We have been working with local contractors and local suppliers to make this project of greater benefit to our community. Children attend Denstone College from a wide catchment area but we are driven to keeping ourselves grounded and responsive to our community. As ever, our building plan is sustainable and green – making this an investment in not just the learning area, but in the future.”
Denstone College have also completed further expansion on their facilities to include a boarding house for children from aged 7-13 to complement the boarding opportunities for older children already established. Denstone has benefited from considerable expansion in recent years and is a thriving educational establishment in the heart of the Midlands.
