Business, Marketing and Management students from Richard Huish College used the skills acquired through their Extended Diploma qualifications to coordinate a highly successful public event that raised £895.91 for Love Musgrove.
Love Musgrove is the official charity of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and funds projects that are beyond what the NHS can cover.
The vocational course at Huish challenged the students to research the charity before planning, promoting, and leading an event that would raise funds and awareness of the chosen charity.
At the start of the project, Zoe Steer from the Love Musgrove fundraising team visited the College to provide some insight and inspiration. The class of students decided upon a quiz and bingo night, to be led by student quiz master, Josh Taylor.
The quiz evening became the highest-attended event the department has ever hosted with each person paying £2 to enter the quiz. Maximising their fundraising effort, they made over £80 through refreshment sales, over £200 through cake sales, almost £300 through raffle ticket sales, and over £150 through bingo.
Zoe from Love Musgrove commented, “It’s a huge thank you to all the students, their event last night was absolutely amazing, a credit to them all, so thank you ever so much for their continued support and for raising such a tremendous amount of money”.
Course Manager Sharon Williams shared “Our Year 2’s did a remarkable job. They all worked well together, demonstrating effective planning and some excellent leadership skills to raise a staggering amount for Love Musgrove and they created a high level of excitement on the evening”.
