ACS International Schools have been announced as a joint winner of the Local Partnerships & Community Champion category at the prestigious School House 2023 Awards.
Judged by a panel of educational and pastoral experts, the inaugural School House Awards celebrate the less tangible benefits offered by outstanding independent schools across the UK. This year, ACS International Schools defeated other finalists, including Wellington College, to be crowned the joint Champion alongside Canford School, Dorset.
Graeme Lawrie MBE, Partnerships Director at ACS International Schools, said: “We are delighted to have been announced as joint winner of the Local Partnerships & Community Champion, especially as we were up against some seriously strong competition.
“This recognition is testament to the ongoing commitment of the ACS Partnerships team, and to all our staff and students who participate in the schools’ various community outreach programmes. Thanks to them, we have been able to deliver ACS International Schools’ charitable mission, which is to leverage our partnerships with local state schools to raise the standards of teaching and learning through innovative, relevant and accessible initiatives. Ultimately, this has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on all children’s education.”
The judges were impressed by the wide range of ways that ACS International Schools were involved in the wider community, such as its unique STEAM event which saw over 10,000 state school students being invited to Thorpe Park, as well as the school’s harnessing of data to increase accountability. The schools’ bespoke impact monitoring tool has so far logged 60,000 hours of school involvement with the local community and 21,000 staff hours dedicated to public benefit.
