A PUPIL at a Harrogate school has spent her half-term holidays joining her younger brother in helping with the collections on behalf of the Royal British Legion in town centre.
Following a public appeal for assistance, 11-year-old Ashville College pupil Nancy Bright and seven-year-old brother Toby volunteered to give up some of their free time to sell poppies to the public – even giving advice on the design to suit the buyer best.
Jane Ellis, Head of Lower School, which includes years 7 and 8, said she was delighted to learn of their generous gesture in some wild autumnal weather.
She added: “We understand Harrogate shoppers were pleased to see two young people giving up their time to help out and Nancy certainly epitomised the selflessness and a sense of community service we hope to install in all of our pupils.”
