Seven Bishop’s Stortford College pupils selected for Saracens Mavericks and London Pulse netball pathways programmes.
Seven Bishop’s Stortford College pupils have been selected for Saracens Mavericks and London Pulse Netball Pathway programmes for the 2023-2024 season.
Tallulah A, Sujaanvi B, Eden M, Ava I-W and Lucinda L have been selected for the Saracens Mavericks Pathways programmes, whilst Violet L has been selected for London Pulse Hub U13s, and Carolina R for the U12s.
Trials for both clubs took place over the summer months, and consisted of athletes doing warm up, drills and play over two hours. Judged by a professional panel, athletes were selected based on criteria such as their skill, tactical awareness, ability to adapt to game scenarios as well as personal qualities including respect for others, discipline, and resilience.
Saracens Mavericks and London Pulse are renowned netball clubs, competing in the Netball Superleague. The clubs deliver netball programmes at grassroots through to performance for a variety of ages and abilities, with their pathways programmes being England Netball accredited.
Under the pathways programmes, athletes are exposed to an elite performance environment and experience both training and competition. The programmes are led by dedicated coaches who deliver formulated programmes, and age-appropriate development plans which focus on aspects such as ball control, footwork skills, defence, dynamic movement, and game understanding.
Louisa Watson, Head of Netball, commented, “We are immensely proud of Tallulah, Sujaanvi, Eden, Ava, Lucinda, Violet, and Carolina. They are all talented players, and it is fantastic their hard work and training has paid off. These pathways are a wonderful opportunity for them all to further their skill and game development in an elite setting, and we look forward to seeing this take effect.”
