Former pupil, Oscar Beard, has been selected for the England 2024 men’s rugby Six Nations squad.
Oscar was 1st XV captain during the 2018/19 unbeaten season, which saw us lift the Daily Mail Trophy (pictured). He was also part of the unbeaten team in 2016/17 and the Rosslyn Park Rugby Sevens cup runners up the same year. Since leaving school in 2019, Oscar has been with Harlequins alongside fellow Old Cranleighans: Will Collier, Dino Lamb, Will Trenholm and Hayden Hyde as well as Hugh Tizard (before he moved to Saracens), Harry Barlow (before joining the army) and Charlie Piper. Oscar has returned numerous times over the last 12 months, to run training sessions and give motivational talks to our current pupils. If Oscar was to be capped, he would join Will Collier (England), Sammy Arnold (Ireland) and Dino Lamb (Italy) in playing full international rugby in the last six years, with Cranleigh also having Hayden Hyde, Will Trenholm and Jamie Barden all capped with England Sevens just two years ago. We wish him all the very best for the campaign. |
