Wells Cathedral School is thrilled to announce that Upper Sixth pupil Alfie has received a
place at the globally renowned, prestigious Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary
Dance to train professionally on their BA (hons) degree course. He will join them in London
in September 2024.
Alfie joined Wells in the Lower Sixth and specialised in dance for two years. He has been
tutored by dance teacher Miss Louise Cannon, “after 16 months of intensive dance training,
I am delighted Alfie has gained a place at Rambert. He has worked so hard and is seen
training whenever he has spare time in between studying for his A levels.”
Alfie also enjoyed additional dance tuition at National Dance CATS (Centres for Advanced
Training) and the Sue Hill Dance School.
Not only did Alfie receive an offer from Rambert but also from other esteemed institutions
including the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Trinity Laban Conservatoire and
The Place, all considered among the UK’s top-rated Dance schools. “He really is a very
special and talented dancer,” says Miss Cannon.
Alfie had to go through two auditions “it was unlike any of the schools I had auditioned for
before. The first audition consisted of ballet, contemporary, improvisation classes and a
solo dance which I had prepared.” He was called back for the second round where he was
narrowed down from 500 to 100 dancers! “Since the audition process was such a high
level, and the other candidates were equally so, I was doubtful I would receive a place.
However, when I received my email informing me of my acceptance, I was over the moon
as this was not only my top choice, but, just over a year ago when I started, it never seemed
like a possibility. I truly cannot wait to start in September.”
Wells extend their heartfelt congratulations to Alfie for this remarkable accomplishment,
and eagerly anticipate his continued success as he embarks on his professional Dance
training at Rambert School.
