Talented mathematicians from Abbey College Manchester are celebrating resounding success after competing in a prestigious, national challenge.
Four students from the leading independent school put their skills and knowledge to the ultimate test in the UK Mathematics Trust Senior Maths Challenge, a competition which encourages students to think, stimulating problems for both beginners and experienced problem-solvers. After contending with other students from across the nation, the Abbey College Manchester mathematicians took home a series of accolades, placing in the top-scoring 66% of participants.
Year 12 student Zian (Alex) soared to success securing a sought-after Gold Certificate and coveted ‘Best in School’ badge; he has now qualified for the next round, held in late November. Additional achievements came from Year 12 student Mohammed and Year 13 student Liujia, who both attained Silver accolades, with Liujia also securing the ‘Best in Year 13’ badge, while Hugo in Year 12 achieved a desirable Bronze certificate.
